چکیده

Large military ad hoc networks are often characterized by the interconnection of heterogeneous domains. The same trend is emerging in civilian MANETs (e.g., search and rescue, vehicular networks). In these networks it is important to be able to efficiently propagate information across domains in multicast mode (e.g., situation awareness dissemination, commands, streams). Several multicast protocols have been developed for single domain MANET. However, few can be extended to inter-domain operation. In fact, multicast routing across different MANET domains faces the challenges of node motion, topology changes, dynamic gateway election and, possibly, connectivity interruption. To overcome these challenges, especially to achieve routing scalability and at the same time maintains efficient routing, this paper proposes the Geo-assisted Multicast Inter-domain Routing (GMIDR) protocol based on geographical assistance and cluster technology. Intensive simulation results show that the GMIDR protocol is scalable and stable with various numbers of multicast group members, and it outperforms other multicast protocols. Geocast by applying GMIDR shows the flexibility of the protocol. Keywords-MANETs, Multicast mode, Clustering, Inter-domain routing.

IDRM: Inter-Domain Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Inter-domain routing is an important component to allow interoperation among heterogeneous network domains operated by different organizations. Although interdomain routing has been extensively studied in the Internet, it remains relatively unexplored in the Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) space. In MANETs, the inter-domain routing problem is challenged by: (1) dynamic network topology, and (2)...

Secure Routing Protocol: Affection on MANETs Performance

In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...

UNICAST AND MULTICAST ROUTING PROTOCOLs FOR MANETs: A COMPARATIVE SURVEY

A Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a selfconfiguring network composed of mobile nodes without any fixed infrastructure. In a MANETs, there are no difference between a host node and a router so that all nodes can be source as well as forwarders of traffic. Moreover, all MANET components can be mobile. They provide robust communication in a variety of hostile environment, such as communication fo...

A Review of the Energy Efficient and Secure Multicast Routing Protocols for Mobile Ad hoc Networks

This paper presents a thorough survey of recent work addressing energy efficient multicast routing protocols and secure multicast routing protocols in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). There are so many issues and solutions which witness the need of energy management and security in ad hoc wireless networks. The objective of a multicast routing protocol for MANETs is to support the propagation o...

A Comprehensive Survey of Multicast Routing Protocols for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

MANETs are considered to be an important network type in the near future. Nodes in MANETs are often collaborative for a particular task and have limited power. Multicasting can efficiently support data transmissions and thus is very suitable for MANETs. There have been a number of multicast routing protocols which are classified into two types: tree-based protocols and mesh-based protocols. We ...
